Your data, fully transparent

The bare minimum to generate your license, nothing for advertising.

What we collect

When you request a download, the form records your first name and your email address, and, if you provide them, your last name, company, project type, chosen platform and hardware description.

Your customer account. With your license, an account is created on ted-energy.fr: your email address (confirmed by a link), your first name and your password. The password is only stored as an irreversible encrypted fingerprint: nobody, not even the TED team, can read it (if lost, a new password is sent to you). The account also keeps the date of your last login and the history of its operations (address confirmation, password change, possible blocking).

We also record which files were downloaded, linked to your license identifier, to know which versions are in use. Your IP address is used temporarily, in memory, to limit form abuse; the server's technical logs may also contain it.

On the roadmap page, your email address is only used to count one vote per person and to identify the author of a proposal; it is never displayed on the site.

Audience measurement. To know which pages are viewed, the site counts visits anonymously: page viewed, referring site and device type. Your IP address is never stored (only a non-reversible fingerprint, renewed every day, avoids counting the same visit twice), no cookie is set and these statistics are deleted after one year.

Why

  • Generate your license and link it to your account (confirmed email address).
  • Identify you in your customer area and when you install the software on a new machine: your password proves that you are the license holder.
  • Let you download your license and new versions again.
  • Handle your license extension requests (first name, email, message and requested duration) and answer you by email.
  • Count the TED installations in use (machines validating their license) and learn, from their anonymous statistics, which setups are used (number of inverters, grid type, automations, subscribed power), to guide the software's development.
  • Provide remote technical assistance, if you allowed it in the software.
  • Contact you about your license or the software if necessary.

Your data is never sold, transferred or used for advertising.

Where it is stored

On the server hosting TED Energy Controller, in France, with no third-party service. This site uses no external audience tool, no font or script loaded from another site, and no advertising tracker. Data is kept as long as your license or account exists, or until you ask for its deletion. So that it is never lost, it is backed up every day (archives kept for one month at most).

Cookies and local storage

No tracking cookie. If you switch language with the FR / EN selector, a technical lang cookie remembers your choice for one year. After your request, your browser stores your download link locally so you do not have to fill in the form again; the "Use another email address" button on the Download page clears it. A session cookie is used only when you log in to your customer area (or to the site's admin area).

The TED software: what it sends over the Internet

The software runs on your own machine and talks to your Home Assistant on your local network. Your installation's measurements (power values, battery levels, history, settings) never leave your home: only a few anonymous usage statistics, plain counts, come with the license check (details below).

Here is the complete list of its Internet connections:

  • License validation (mandatory), daily or weekly depending on the license (hourly after a failure, or while an extension request awaits its answer), to ted-energy.fr: license identifier and key, random installation identifier, machine name and the name you give the installation, installation type (Docker, Home Assistant OS…), software version, number of controlled inverters and date the safety warning was accepted. Since version 3.7, it also carries anonymous usage statistics: number of controlled and monitored inverters, number of automations, single-phase or three-phase grid and subscribed power of your electricity contract (never your measurements, your consumption or the names of your devices). The server's answer is signed, so it can be checked that it really comes from us.
  • License request from the software (only when you click "Obtenir ma licence" and tick the consent box), to ted-energy.fr: your first name and email, the software version, its installation type and the random installation identifier. As with the website form, they are used to create your account and your free license; the software then waits for you to confirm your address (link received by email) to install the license.
  • Logging in to your account from the software (only when you do it, to allow a new installation or an imported license), to ted-energy.fr over HTTPS: your email and password, the random identifier and name of the installation. The password is never stored in the software.
  • Extension request from the software (only when you send it), to ted-energy.fr: your first name, email, message, requested duration and license identifier.
  • Off-peak hours (only if you enable it, French contracts): Tempo day colours from api-couleur-tempo.fr if your contract is Tempo, and your off-peak hours from myelectricaldata.fr if you entered your supply point and token there.
  • Mobile app remote access (only when you click "Détecter"): your public IP address is requested from api.ipify.org or ifconfig.me.
  • Remote assistance (only if you allow it, with a license that includes it): the software keeps in touch with ted-energy.fr (encrypted outgoing connection, no port to open) and leaves there an access key renewed every month. Support can then display your installation's interface, change its settings to help you and download its logs; each connection is notified to you and each change is written to the history. The license, the Home Assistant token and remote access remain yours alone. Unticking the box removes the access immediately.
  • Access from your customer area (only if you allow it in the software, with a confirmed account): same secure link as remote assistance, so that you can open your installation's interface yourself from ted-energy.fr, wherever you are. Your changes are flagged "change over remote connection".
  • Your webhooks: the addresses you configure yourself in automations.

The Home Assistant access token stays on your machine and is never transmitted.
